(Diamond Bar) – Matt Castaneda, who stepped down as the head football coach at Rosemead Wednesday, has been named the new head coach at Diamond Bar pending board approval.
“I’ll teach and coach at Diamond Bar. I’m excited to get a chance to work for and with such a great administration and district. The principal and AD have been wonderful during this entire interview process,” Castaneda said.
Castaneda, who was 22-20 overall with two playoff appearances during his four seasons at Rosemead, takes over a Diamond Bar team that went 5-6 overall last year and finished second in the Hacienda League. The Brahmas lost to Victor Valley 55-36 in the first round of the CIF Division 12 Playoffs. He succeeds Jeff Reitz who resigned after the season.
“The whole DBHS community really came to together and showed their commitment to their athletics and academics and we both ended being a great fit. I am blessed and honored for the opportunity,” Castaneda added.
He does this often. He was employed at a middle school for a few years, then quit unexpectedly. Spending more time with family he said. Guy’s a snake.
@legend still waiting for someone to believe he was great one time
They could be a good paying district if you are employed
no wonder they offered him a teaching job , we should have done the same
@Professor ahhhh yes, is this based off the teaching position that he DIDN’T have there?
Yawn….. El Monte union is a very good pay district. Walnut valley is terrible.
Doesn’t make sense.
About time Diamond Bar goes for a coaching instead of Rap stars.
Some are rumors were already floating around last month. I just hope the AD finally gets it together and gets a coach that helps the program grow.
This seems like it was done the right way by all parties; Rosemead, Castaneda, and Diamond Bar
spend more time with the family = getting the hell out of here
I really think Rosemead will be happy to move on.
