Actually, it’s the AD’s job to make sure all transfer paperwork has been filed. And from the sounds of it, the kid and his family had all their ducks lined up in a row. The paperwork was there, although falsified. That’s on the young man and his family which is why he was arrested. What AD or coach ever wonders to themselves “I wonder if this guy is using a fake name and if he actually already graduated from high school.”

It is the head coaches job to make sure transfer paperwork is turned in and rules are followed. The good head coaches are aware of any transfer that may help their program. Montclair coaches should have known, “not my job” is a crock of S$%#… Doesn’t surprise me the district will keeps this under the rug, no negative PR and CYA is the model. CIF and their WOKE commissioner as usual have their head in the sand. Thank goodness the commissioner is retiring, he has screwed things up soooo bad, especially the playoff format. Rewarding terrible teams that actually walk around like badass because they won a championship 4-5 divisions lower then they should be.

Did this young adult play on last years Montclair team ? I didn’t know that, thought he had just enrolled? If so , that’s really bad

I feel for all the kids who had their senior seasons ruined by Covid protocols ; it has set back high school football and this is another aspect ; if he was any good he could have hurt someone out there!

    @?,

What do you want the head coach to do? A kid enrolls at a school and the head coach would assume he is of age. Is it the head coaches job to check birth certificates? Is it the head coaches job to check the kids DL? Maybe follow him around and see if he’s buying cigarettes on his spare time?

Disappointed at Montclair’s response to a national story. No apologies from admin, HC offers “it ain’t my job to know”. In the meantime in 2021 Montclair took a playoff spot from a deserving team and then knocked out 3 playoff teams that could now have a ring. Cif has not responded much either. I wonder how many other teams are playing with 19 and 20 year olds. With all the transfering and supposed address changes I bet more than a few. The one good thing is that the adult player was arrested. If some players start dropping out now its probably to avoid a perp walk.
