- The Houston Astros beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 Thursday night in Game 5 to take a 3-2 lead in the World Series. In Game 4 on Wednesday night the Astros used four pitchers to throw just the second no-hitter in World Series history in a 5-0 win. Christian Javier started and went six innings.
- Pasadena started the season with a 15-14 loss to La Serna and ended the season with a 15-14 loss to El Modena in the first round of the Division 3 playoffs. They were the only losses of the Bulldogs’ season.
- The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 8-0 with a 29-17 win over the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football.
- Alex Robles kicked a 25-yard field goal in the last seconds to give Bellflower a 30-27 win over Bell Gardens Thursday night in the first round of the CIF Division 11 playoffs.
- Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder is considering the sale of his franchise.
- The Chicago White Sox hired Kansas City Royals bench coach Pedro Grifol as their new manager.
- The Miami Dolphins signed newly acquired linebacker Bradley Chubb to a five-year, $110 million extension.
- The Brooklyn Nets suspended guard Kyrie Irving for five games for his social media post last week about a book and movie that feature antisemitic tropes.
- Former Oakland Raiders punter Ray Guy, the first punter to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame, passed away Thursday at the age of 72.
- UCLA opens the 2022-’23 College Basketball season Monday night November 7 at Pauley Pavilion against Sacramento State.
