Harbaugh Hungry, Spanos Starving, “Let’s Go!”

(Inglewood)—Jim Harbaugh was officially introduced as the 19th head coach in Los Angeles Chargers history today at a press conference at SoFi Stadium.

“Work together, win together,” a quote from Harbaugh’s daughter Katie, repeated by her father, served as the thread of his message to the media.

With over 500 people in attendance—media, team personnel, and family—Harbaugh took questions for an hour. The questions, all similar, were met with similar remarks from the team’s new HC.

“There are no magic formulas,” Harbaugh said. “Just hard work… I’ll be working until it’s cocked, locked, and the roster is ready to rock.”

Harbaugh was optimistic about raising starting quarterback Justin Herbert’s game and the opportunity to work with several key players. He mentioned Derwin James, Keenan Allen, and Rashawn Slater by name.

Among the challenges facing Harbaugh and new Charger General Manager Joe Hortiz is the pending free agency of Mike Davis, Austin Ekeler, and Gerald Everett. And a salary dilemma that has the Bolts currently 45-million dollars over the cap.

“It’s not just about a championship,” Harbaugh said, ever optimistic. “It’s about multiple championships.

“No magic formulas just hard work”. I guess he counts spying out your opponents with your asst coaches as “hard work” leading to firings and suspensions. Bad hire.

Word is that Harbaugh is trying to get both Kevin Glaspy and Matty V on his staff, hoping to give his squad that rough edge that used to define the Raiders.
