Hernandez Pitches La Salle to Victory

(Arcadia)- Adrian Hernandez threw a complete game, three-hitter to lead La Salle to a 4-1 win over San Marino Saturday at Arcadia Park.

Hernandez had a no-hitter going through five innings but Parker Wilson broke it up with a one-out single to right field in the sixth inning.

The Lancers got two in the first and two more in the third and Hernandez made the runs stand up. The Titans avoided the shutout with a run in the seventh.

La Salle set the stage early with two runs right out of the gate. Andrew-Coty Nieto and Moses Aguirre singled. Nieto scored on a base hit by Peter Calihan and Aguirre came around to score on a knock to left by Travis Ochoa.

The Lancers added to more in the third inning when Aguirre got his second hit of the day and Calihan also singled. Chris Cardenas then drove one over the head of the right fielder to chase in both runners and Cardenas motored into third base with a triple for a 4-0 lead. The Lancers also knocked out San Marino starter JT Lu-Morris.

Meanwhile Hernandez was sailing along. He struck out two in the first inning, another in the third and two more in the fourth. He fanned eight overall.

The Titans finally broke though in the seventh. Chase Mena led off with a single to right, took third on a double by Ryan Park and scored on an error. Hernandez then recorded the last two outs to finish it off.

San Marino used two pitchers on the day. Lu-Morris started and worked the first three innings and allowed four runs and seven hits. Brandon Strauss threw the last three innings.

La Salle had nine hits on the day in support of Hernandez. The Lancers improved to 13-7 on the season with the victory while San Marino fell to 16-5.
