  1. The Boston Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks106-88 Monday night to win the NBA Finals in five games. Jaylen Brown was named series MVP. 
  2. The Celtics won the championship 16 years to the day that they won their last championship. On June 17, 2008 the Celtics beat the Lakers 131-92 to win the NBA title in six games. 
  3. The Edmonton Oilers beat the Florida Panthers 5-3 Tuesday night in Game 5 of the  Stanley Cup Final. Florida leads the series 3-2.
  4. The Clippers hired Jeff Van Gundy to be Ty Lue’s lead assistant on the coaching staff. 
  5. South Hills has named Jesse Mendez as its new head softball coach. 
  6. Former San Marino head football coach Nate Turner finally made it official. He has stepped down at San Marino to take over as the head football coach at San Bernardino Valley College. 
  7. MVS Twitter (X) Poll: With Mookie Betts out with an injury who should bat leadoff now for the Dodgers? 1. Shohei Ohtani-55.2% 2. Cavan Biggio 27.6% 3. Miguel Rojas17.2%. 
  8. Legendary center fielder/ Hall of Famer Willie Mays passed away Tuesday at the age of 93.  
  9. Willie Mays played 22 seasons in MLB, over 20 of them with the San Francisco Giants. He finished his career with 660 home runs ranked third in MLB history. He also finished with 3,283 hits (12th all-time) and 1,903 RBI, also 12th all-time. Mays won 2 NL MVP awards and won 12 gold gloves and played in 24 All-Star games.         
  10. Former Dodgers announcer Vin Scully, who was a broadcaster for 67 years, said Wille Mays was the best player he ever saw.

    @Rams: MLB played two all star games between 1959-1962. The second game was a fundraiser for the player pension.
    From T. Peterson: Correct. They played two All-Star games per year during that time.

    #9 Played 22 years but 24 All Star Games? Did we have a couple of years with 2 All Star Games or was he voted in 2 years he wasn’t a player?
