San Marino jumped out to a 6-2 lead and held on for an 8-6 win over Temple City Friday in Rio Hondo League action.
Dusty Sanderson clouted a three run home in the fourth to get Temple City within 6-5 but San Marino came right back with two in the bottom half of the inning to go ahead 8-5. Michael Thompson’s line shot double to left plated Jonathan Merhaut and Steven Wright to spark the three run Titan advantage.
TC let a golden opportunity get away in the sixth when thy came away with just one run after loading the bases with one out.
Jordan Halladay started the contest for the Rams but was replaced in the third by Jimmy Britt. San Marino starter Andrew Sloan picked up the win for San Marino.
In other Rio Hondo League action, La Canada took care of Monrovia 9-5. The Rio race will come down to the last week. Here’s a quick look at the top four.
