(Whittier, CA) The La Serna Lancers and the El Rancho Dons opened up Del Rio League action Friday night at Cal High School and the Lancers continued their league dominance with a 42-18 win over the Dons.
They say the stars come out at night and this was the case for the La Serna stars with the names of Kaimana Tufaga, Grady Long, Daniel Moreno, Miguel Tellez and Emre Law.
Tufaga and Moreno each found the endzone twice while Tellez and Law each added a score of their own. Long was the facilitator firing four touchdown passes.
El Rancho however would get the scoring started on the evening taking their opening drive 65-yards on six plays with Andrew Guerrero knifing his way through the Lancer defense en route to a 49-yard touchdown run. The snap on the point after was mishandled but the Dons led 6-0 with just over 10 minutes left to play in the opening quarter.

La Serna came back with a score of their own on the ensuing drive. Long found Tufaga on a leaping grab which Tufaga turned into a 59-yard score. Landon Armenta added the extra point, and the Lancers grabbed a 7-6 lead.
The Lancers recovered an El Rancho fumble at the Don 47 and immediately turned it into points when Moreno got his first score on a 1-yard plunge.
The Dons cut the lead to two points early in the second period, grinding out a 17-play 65 yard drive capped by a Diego Diaz two yard run. The Dons went for two after the score but Ryan Dominguez ‘pass sailed high and incomplete.
La Serna pushed their advantage to 21-12 with 9:08 left in the 2nd on a 40-yard pass from Long to Emre Law.
The Lancers scored two more times to close out the first half barrage on points on another 59-yard pass from Long to Tufaga and Moreno’s second 1-yard touchdown plunge.
El Rancho did get on the board again late in the first half when Dominguez worked his way to paydirt from seven yards out to cap a 4-play, 57-yard drive. Once again the snap was muffed and the extra point try was no good.

Early in the third quarter La Serna got their final score on the night on a 20-yard catch and run from Long to Miguel Tellez.
The Lancers did have one final attempt to put up more points when a 10-play drive stalled at the Don 18. Armenta trotted on to attempt a 35-yard field goal but his attempt fell short.
La Serna’s defense held the rest of the way and head coach Andy George had the opportunity to rest his stars the rest of the evening and get the backups some needed playing time.
The Lancers will have three games remaining to get tuned up for the post-season while El Rancho will look to win out and secure a spot in the playoffs.
This is funny, boasting about beating teams with your mercenary players meanwhile your home grown kids getting politicked out of playing time. Clown ish
10 Straight wins for LS over ER
A Decade of Dominance
Avg Score of LS 10 game win steak
La Serna 45.1
El Rancho 11.9
Congrats to the Ranch on making this last game (a 24 point loss) the closest margin of defeat of the 10 losses.
The other 9 were all wins by
25 pts or more.
So Ranch18, you can be proud of your teams effort this year. Much better than last year, when LS could’ve scored 100 if they wanted.
😂
Give the kid some respect,,spell his name correctly please…
It’s Tufaga
@TheRanch18
I get it man, it already sucks when you have to wear a 6xl shirt and ask your partner to tie your shoes for you since your gut gets in the way… but why take all that self hate out on La Serna? Shouldn’t you be used to losing to them by now? It’s been 10 years of you making excuses… you sound worse than a QAnon supporter.
@Anonymous : DELETED
@Del Rio Watcher : what game did you watch ? Who were you sitting next too ?
I didn’t hear anyone cussing out our coach , talking trash , drunk or anything.
Why you lying ? Don’t try to make us look bad … if so
Call them out … everyone has shirts with who they were supporting … or you may even know who it is …
Just stop already
Everyone where I was sitting … was cheering and positive to our boys …
Once it got out of hand , we know it is what it is …. But our boys kept fighting till they got pulled out … and coach pulled them … it definitely was not bc they wanted to go out
Like I said … we will. Be back …
Did you even go to the game? The SF that struggled vs Montebello is now the clear cut #2? Ok clown
Sadly every year Pico still has the drunks and losers that come and ruin the kids football game for everyone. They scream and curse their own coaches and make fools of themselves and believe it or not their families. This is the reputaion The Ranch has earned. Congradulations.In a game like this where ER was given no chance to win they do not go to support their boys but to boo the coaches and anyone that will listen..Last ER game for me for awhile. The Santa Fe game will be even worse. Now they are tsking it to the Mid Valley comment secttion. You make yourselves proud.
EL Excuses been hearing the same thing for years. I remember a few years ago the dons said next year is our year and nada. Always Our guys are hurt…. The sun didn’t shine that day…. Johnny forgot his cleats. Blah blah blah. Pathetic, you sound like a bunch of losers with loser mentality. Why don’t you Play them again and the outcome will be the same. Play them the first game and guess what same outcome. Just stop and move on.
The ranch 18. Every year is going to be your year right? Loser F the Rancho. You guys suck and always will. Go buy some Ozempic heavy D nuts
Game over, ER lost. ER concentrating on next opponent.
Bingo… this is the difference between a program like LS and anyone else in the Del Rio, LS loses guys and plugs in dudes just as good as the 1st string guy meanwhile ER is plugging in JV guys because there is just not enough depth… not making excuses. We need young guys to develop because there’s a lot of ball to be played this season. ER will make a run this season, you heard it here first.
This discussion of ER injuries seems to indicate that guys getting hurt is a rare stroke of great misfortune, where in reality, this happens as a matter of course in the game of football. That’s why it’s critical to have depth, not being overly reliant on a handful of key players. As commenter DRL explains, La Serna also has important players out because of injury, but that team has adequate backups to weather the storm.
@DRL
Smh … yes one player …
That one player was the difference maker in yesterday’s game … had to be purchased all the way from Hawaii huh
Hope you got a deal for them flight tickets
LS has multiple guys out as well.
So one player beat your team?
@ER
True. Orihuela going down hurts but as long as Dominguez, Guerrero, and Diaz stay healthy they have a chance to win out. Running back has proven to be plug and play so I’m not too worried about that. Acero came back and looked good last night. If Navarro and Montenegro are able to come back then even better!
I also got to imagine we’ll start seeing more 2 way players now that Diaz had some runs and Guerrero came in on defense in certain spots.
That’s football, it’s all about who can make it to the finish line… we have cal on Thursday and then a bye… we will have some dudes back that are desperately needed soon.
Again like last year injuries piling up. Skill guys all banged up and some out for the year. Great just in time for Santa Fe game.
F-LS ! Can’t wait till we run it back next year !
Let league change …. Idgaf … make this an annual game … we know they hate us and it’s ok bc we hate them too!
Hahahah take Tafunga out and LS loses the game !!! FACTS
