5. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott could be out several weeks with a right hamstring injury suffered Sunday in a 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.
6. New York Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole decided to not opt out and will remain with the team on a four-year, $144 million deal.
7. The New Orleans Saints fired head coach Dennis Allen after they lost their seventh straight game Sunday. The Saints are 2-7 overall.
8. CIF Playoff Football games Bell Gardens at El Rancho (at California) and Sierra Vista at Duarte have both been moved to Thursday night.
9. The Las Vegas Raiders fired OC Luke Getsy and two other assistant coaches Sunday night. The Raiders are 2-7 on the season after a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday.
10. St. Pius X/ St. Matthias (1-9) will host Cypress (2-8) in the first round of the Division 8 CIF Playoffs Friday night.
