Did not the LS QB throw more picks than completions? There is always room for a smart accurate passer. Ask Georgia.
Leave the politics at LS to battle more politics at Amat? They have a legacy qb same grade level already, the situation would not get any better. There are lots of good qb situations he can step right into however he is to good for some of those schools and thas 2 bad.
What a waste, the people advising that family before they entered high school did them no favors, set them up for failure in an impossible situation. Probably the best area QB since McD and he will have to settle playing another position.
Bonilla is staying at La Serna. Amat wants him I think he should consider Amat. To good of a QB to be dealing with politics. Got to give it to the kid though he’s going to keep fighting. It’s to bad he doesn’t have a fair shot.
Hearing lots of movement coming out of La Serna this off season
Who knew? Pioneer is the new La Serna? The Titans are proving you can win with a team that averages 5’9″ with a 5’10” center. Everybody jeolous of the Titans many successes in sports. BTW a LaSerna football player coming back home to PiHi next year.
The Titans hoopsters are not a powerhouse; they ‘re apparently not even good enough to go back into the Del Rio. If and when they are reinstated to that ordinary conference, we can better evaluate the need for enthusiasm.
Let’s not confuse the issue of playoff construction with regular season scheduling!
A review of Pioneer basketball thus far shows a very good win vs athletic Serra squad in early season tournament , followed by many lopsided victories vs weak opponents rated lower than 1000 in the state . Anaheim ranked about 800th might be their second best win.
Scheduling is up to the discretion of the coach ; some will schedule light hoping to build the confidence of the team ; others schedule tough to develop team grit and identify team weaknesses. Sometimes teams are better or worse than anticipated when scheduled. In the past, you might benefit or get exposed in league and/or playoffs.
Pioneer basketball has a very interesting game coming up vs Salesian, a solid well coached team, that will test them . They’ve been blowing out all the weak teams which is all you can do .
Congratulations to them for putting together a good team and maintaining positive momentum for their athletic department.
The football teams success was largely predicated by CIF randomized playoff construction . Please understand that I respect their accomplishments this year , the coaches , kids everything ! Still they got a 2 seed in highly skewed Division off a 5-5 record and third place finish in 4 team league. Lone league win by forfeit . The were a 30 point favorite in opening round ! They were a double digit favorite in EVERY other game until eventually playing decent team in State finals ( except for being slight favorite vs SG who can’t kick extra point ) .
Any way you slice it , it’s been a great year for Titan sports !
@Aim Low you act like Pioneer is some powerhouse playing a weak schedule. To build these programs you got to start at your level and move up from there and hopefully that’s what they’re doing.
Any victory–in any sport–has to be evaluated by the level of one’s opponent. In this regard, we can easily see that Pioneer’s D14 football title is not on the same level as the championships in higher divisions. The same dynamic is now playing out with Pioneer basketball. Beat a name program and we can talk.
@ Aim Low: You start your new year with hate. Bad Karma man.
Happy New Year, Sports Fans!
Not to disparage the Pioneer Titans’ hoops squad, but a glance at their schedule reveals the competition to be, on average, mediocre. Best of luck to the kids as they encounter better opponents.
