Rams Notes: 1/30/25

By Tim Byrnes

I did a deep dive on Maryland WR Tai Felton (6-2/210).

2024 stats:12 games, 96 receptions, 1,124yds, 9Tds.

This is someone who should be available in the 3rd-round.

His speed is listed at 4.61, but his film has him pulling away from CBs often. He has an excellent first two steps, and his change of direction is so quick after the catch.

He’s drawn comparisons to Puka Nacua on many sites and by announcers of games he’s in.

He’s very Puka-like in his patience to adjust his hands upward on 50/50 balls, which keeps defenders unaware of the ball being in flight. He stands out in the Red Zone.

His YAC (Yards After Catch) is in line with Cooper Kupp’s and Nacua’s. Owns a great spin move and breaks a lot of tackles.
(Film versus Virginia shows him breaking double-digit tackles, catching nine passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.

He needs to improve his blocking, as he can be pinballed off balance.

Ultimately, his speed on the field is faster than his 40 time. He is perfect for McVay’s short and intermediate play calls and is a real threat in the Red Zone.

He needs to bulk up a bit to deal with a physical NFL, but he would fit the Rams system and likely be a high snap count guy (over 1,900 in college).
