(Ontario)- Joey LaRosa, who resigned as the head coach at Chino last month after six seasons, has found a landing spot. He has been hired as the offensive coordinator at Colony head coach Brian Zavala confirmed Tuesday.
In six years at Chino LaRosa compiled a record of 30-26 and won three league titles. His best year was 2023 when he guided the Cowboys to a regular season record of 10-0, a Sierra League title and a first round CIF Division playoff victory over Long Beach Jordan. Chino fell in the second round to Mayfair.
“He did a good job at Chino. We’re excited to have him on staff,” Zavala said.
“Colony has been a historically great program. Just to be a part of an established program and learn from a great head coach like Brian Zavala is something I’ve wanted to do in my young career. I was a young head coach and had to figure out a lot of things on my own or learn from experience. So to be able to learn from an established head coach is where I want to be in my career right now. Taking some time off from being a head coach is what I need right now. Coach Zavala is a great head coach, and so when I met with him the fit just seemed natural. Colony has a great family atmosphere and I feel very welcomed by the coaching staff,” LaRosa said.
