It’s woke! Many area schools are changing the mascots of their schools. Alta Loma comes to mind. I’m sure there’s more. Does anyone here know of any more?
To all: If the Aztec name wasn’t in fact changed, the mascot is most likely a reference to part of the name for an Aztec warrior which was Ocelot (ocelotl), the other part of the nomenclature being Eagle (cuauhtli)—cuauhtli-ocelotl
Combine Aztecs with Gladiators and you get……a jaguar? The decision to go with that logo is not a “woke” move, though; it simply seems to be nonsensical.

C’mon man! One thing Azusa had going for them was the proud Aztec name and logo. This is very confusing and embarrassing.
I hope they can turn out a dominating team like they had in 1975, and a few in more recent years.

Wow, I remember when Azusa was known as a tough, hard nosed community. Surprised they caved and went WOKE. The Azusa Cheetahs? Hope they go back to the Aztecs, no one was offended!
