Halo Happenings: 3/23/2025

By Danny Delgado

In a spring where injuries are trying to derail the 2025 season before it even begins, the Angels did get a key piece back.

Closer Kenley Jansen, 37, is back in camp after missing time with the passing of his mother. When he has pitched, the veteran has pitched well.

Jansen currently ranks fourth on the all-time saves list behind Mariano Rivera (652), Trevor Hoffman (601), and Lee Smith (478

Before play started, news came that Anthony Rendon was gone for the season. The Angels signed free agent third baseman Yoan Moncada, but he’s got a thumb injury and may miss the season opener.

Shortstop Zach Neto has a shoulder injury and likely won’t play when the Halos open with the White Sox this week.

Mike Trout has appeared in 14 games, 10 walks, 11 Ks, two home runs, an OBP of .463, and a .997 OPS.

Jorge Soler has been breaking windows to go with Trout’s impressive showing. In 18 games, Soler is batting .311 with a .404 OBP, four home runs, and 10 runs batted in.

On the other hand, Jo Adell has had a few moments but a lot of struggles. In 21 games, he’s batting .190, his OBP is .213, and while he has four homers and 13 runs batted in, he’s got one walk against 15 Ks.

Adell turns 26 on April 8th, and this will be his sixth season with the big club. What do the Angels do?
