All kickoffs are at 7:00 PM unless otherwise indicated:
Thursday August 28
Covina (1-0) at Baldwin Park (1-0)
Covina should come out and pound the ball like it did last week. The Colts will try to get Gatsbee Gumban going early and often. Baldwin Park has some weapons of its own in receiver Elvis Diaz and quarterback Valentino May.
Both teams can score as we saw last week. Covina wins a shootout.
Covina 38 Baldwin Park 31
Upland (0-1) vs. Charter Oak (1-0) (SoFi Stadium 5:00 PM)
Upland fell to a solid La Habra team last week while Charter Oak cleaned up on Canyonn. This will be fun for the players as they get the opportunity to play at SoFi Stadium.
Upland will need to contain Corin Berry and the Chargers passing attack to have a shot. If the Highlanders can do that they should be able to do enough offensively to get it done.
Upland wins by a field goal.
Upland 24 Charter Oak 21
West Covina (0-0) at Los Altos (1-0)
Los Altos dropped 62 last week on Wilson in the battle for the wheel. For West Covina its opening night after a Week Zero bye. Diego Castillo and the Conquerors may have too much offense for the Bulldogs.
Los Altos rides the momentum to victory for the second straight week..
Los Altos 28 West Covina 14
Friday August 29
Bell Gardens (1-0) at El Rancho (1-0)
El Rancho will celebrate the first game on its new field after an opening night win over South Hills at SoFi Stadium.
Bell Gardens hammered Bell last week but El Rancho is a different animal. The Dons will celebrate their brand new blue field and a victory.
El Rancho 27 Bell Gardens 13
San Dimas (0-1) at Pasadena (1-0)
San Dimas took a punch in the gut last week from Burbank while Pasadena was beating up on Cantwell. Both teans can score. Pasadena is explosive while the Saints will ground and pound.
If the Saints can shorten the game, get an early score and keep Pasadena’s offense off the field they can gain control. Pasadena will score but San Dimas will do enough to get the W. Saints bounce back.
San Dimas 35 Pasadena 24
La Serna (0-1) at Schurr (0-1)
Schurr has scheduled up under first year head coach Austin Montoya. Last week the Spartans got two-time CIF champions Rio Hondo Prep and then this week La Serna. That’s a tall mountain to climb.
Schurr fell to Rio Hondo Prep last week but La Serna also got beat by Rancho Bernardo. The Spartans will put up a battle but they’ll need to take advantage of every opportunity. La Serna will feast on mistakes.
In the end La Serna has too much. Lancers pull away in the second half.
La Serna 34 Schurr 14
La Habra (1-0) at Northview (1-0) (Covina District Field)
Northview enjoyed the Zero Week trip to Vegss while La Habra beat Upland by two touchdowns. Yes, La Habra beat Upland…by two touchdowns.
We like the step up game by Northview. Can you imagine the statement if the Vikings won? Even keeping it close would be a moral victory.
La Habra is a monster though. The Highlanders may take some shots but in the end they’ll get the win. They’ll be a litte too much for Northview.
La Habra 31 Northview 17
Diamond Ranch (1-0) at Bonita (0-1)
Bonita suffered a three-point loss last week but that came against a solid Muir team. After a tough season in 2024 Diamond Ranch opened the season with a nice win over Ganesha.
Bonita is well-coached and has an explosive offensive weapon in running back Joseph Lara. Quarterback Travis Lippert injured his ankle late in the fourth quarter in the loss to Muir and may miss several games. He will be replaced by freshman Cade Burbidge, brother of Pasadena quarterback Dutch Burbidge.
Great test for Diamond Ranch in a non-league game but ultimately the Panthers won’t be able to stay with Bonita. Bearcats get the win.
Bonita 35 Diamond Ranch 7

Don’t count out the Spartans… I wouldn’t be surprised if Schurr gives them a game, if not, even beats La Serna.
I have to disagree with 3 and out . Schurr will be doing a lot of 3 and out vs La Serna
Rancho Bernardo is good well prepared, a whole different level than Sparta
Comfortable win for Lancers
BG coming to spoil the ranches fun?
Bonilla is coming home.. nothing against the kid but we all know he never got a fair shake at the QB position
I got Schurr , after watching that youtube vs Rancho Bernardo LS looked slow upfront and hardly ran the ball, that QB is good but a pick 6 lost them the game I think Rio Hondo prep was a solid team to play before La Serna, 0-2 start but prepping for a d7 title run
Schurr 28
