Benjamin Flores, (19-4), a 24-year-old boxer from Houston, took a series of punches to the head and the fight was stopped in the eighth round last Thursday at the Hilton Anatole. Flores died from his injuries Tuesday.
Flores’ opponent, 29-year-old Al Seeger, (28-4), of Savannah, Georgia was said to be devastated after learning the news. The super bantamweight championship match was sanctioned by the North American Boxing Federation. It was the last of four fights at the event.
