- Brian Snitker won’t return as the manager of the Atlanta Braves next season.
- The Minnesota Twins fired manager Rocco Baldelli after seven seasons.
- Indianapolis Colts veteran cornerback Xavien Howard abruptly retired Wednesday. He was a second-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2016. He led the NFL in interceptions twice during his time with the Dolphins.
- The Chicago Cubs beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 Thursday to win the NL Wild-Card Series in three games. They will face the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Division Series.
- New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 4-0 Thursday to win the AL Wild-Card Series in three games. They will face the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL Division Series.
- UCLA will face #7 Penn State Saturday at the Rose Bowl at 12:30 PM.
