Rams Rout Hoover to Open Tournament

(Temple City) – Temple City ran out to a 20-5 lead after the first quarter and cruised to a 78-41 rout of Hoover Friday Night in the first round of the Duarte/ Temple City Holiday Classic.

The Rams blitzed the Tornados right from the jump. Jake Vasquez hit five of six shots in the first quarter for 10 points and Mason Collins scored six to get Temple City off and running to a commanding 20-5 lead.

Collins remained hot in the second quarter with seven points and Dylan Lam buried a couple of threes, By the time the halftime buzzer sounded it was 43-15 Rams.

Gavin Hang and Brayden Kwan got busy in the third quarter as they combined for 12 points with each knocking down three baskets. TC carried a 31-point lead into the final frame with everything decided except the final score.

Hoover hit three shots from behind the arc in the fourth quarter as Ronny Stepanian nailed two and Mick Khatchoyan buried one. But Temple City still outscored the Tornados 17-11 in the quarter as Patrick Lam scored seven points for the final tally.

For Hoover Ilan Genachte le bail led the team with 10 points and Khatchoyan, Stepanian and Harout Godzhoyan all scored six.

The Rams had five players in double figures in a dominating offensive performance. Patrick Lam led the way with 15, Kwan had 14 and Collins scored 13. Vasquez and Dylan Lam each added 12.

The Rams, who will play Ridgeview Saturday at home, improved to 8-3 with the victory. Hoover fell to 3-8.
