(La Crescenta) – Hudson Gossard has stepped down as the head football coach at Crescenta Valley and will be replaced by Paul Schilling it was confirmed Thursday.

Gossard took over as head coach in 2019 and ironically replaced Schilling at that time. Schilling was the head coach previously from 2009 through the 2018 campaign.

Schilling led the Falcons to the CIF Southeast Division championship in 2014 and also won Pacific League titles in 2014 and 2016. The Falcons went 69-26 overall during Schilling’s ten-year stint.

Crescenta Valley went 6-4 and 4-3 in the Pacific League last year and missed the playoffs. In 2024 the Falcons also went 4-3 in league and qualified for the playoffs but fell to Dos Pueblos in the first round. In 2023 the CV went 7-4 overall under Gossard and advanced to the playoffs before falling to Kennedy in the opening round of CIF.

With Schilling back at the helm the Falcons now look forward to the 2026 campaign.

Just know CV won league in 2014 and 2016 under Schilling. The only time for H. Gossard was his rookie season as head coach in 2019
    From T. Peterson: Correct.

I was at that CV title game, on the CV side, and it was pretty much the same excitement of a Downey-Warren clash. The only thing that could detract from Schilling’s second turn at the wheel is that he’s ten years older, with a bit less energy. That could be counter-balanced by the maturity and perspective those years give. In any case, it’s a great day for the Falcons and their school.
From T. Peterson: Yes, I was there too. Great game.
