Giorgia Meloni did the U.S. a solid by having Team Italy defeat Mexico last night, so our American team could stay alive in the WBC.

Meloni basically said, “Beat the Mexicans, and take the cannolis.”

We ran a poll on Mid Valley Sports…only 12 responded, but all 12 unanimously agreed that the Lakers are better without LeBron than with him. 

Currently, the Lakers are riding a three-game winning streak without LeBron and are 10-2 this season without him.

I was amazed to see all of the hype surrounding Rams GM Les Snead attending USC’s Makai Lemon’s pro day…Of course, Lemon is going to draw interest…and he’s right here in LA…Why wouldn’t Snead check him out…

Les Snead attending Makai Lemon’s pro day—in Los Angeles!—is like saying SoCal will have a major earthquake in the next ten years…It is not breaking news.

Arizona State basketball gives HC Bobby Hurley the heave-ho…Not the worst thing that’s happened to Hurley’s image…Former Duke HC Mike Krzyzewski once announced on the airwaves that his freshman guard, at the time, Hurley, had missed time in a Final Four game because he was suffering from diarrhea.  

Who does that to a kid? Say he’s got cramps for goodness sake. So getting fired is the least of his embarrassments in life.

Yes, time forgets us all, but it was a bit weak that little was mentioned of Jets legend Matt Snell’s passing. Because of Super Bowl 3, he was always more mythic to me than real—I only saw him play a few snaps.

(I was an Emerson Boozer guy—totally underrated.)

Frick, they gave Peterson an award? I should have learned to play the guitar, I should’ve learned to play them drums.

Talk is that Kyler Murray is going to sign as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings, and that he will be the next quarterback to rehabilitate his reputation—ala Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold, and Mac Jones.

The difference, though, is that Mayfield, Darnold, and Jones (Also Daniel Jones) wanted to get better…they were willing to be humble… has Murray ever given you any indication that he is willing to be humble or even demonstrated a desire to be better?

I’ve seen a lot of quarterbacks…you know who doesn’t make it even when they’ve got all the talent in the world?

The pointers…quarterbacks, who point and embarrass their receivers on the field after they’ve run a wrong route instead of waiting to get to the sidelines or locker room.

Now, some will say Tom Brady and Peyton Manning called out their teammates…well, when Kyler Murray gets to that level and wins multiple Super Bowls, come see me.

I’ve waited a week to hear a correction, but nothing’s come. But while I was living the Cactus League experience, I heard Colin Cowherd, again, trash Magic Johnson for not playing defense.

If you saw the Showtime Era, you know Magic was never a liability defensively and actually made All-NBA defensive teams his first two seasons…That was lazy on Cowherd’s part.

Lazy is one thing, incompetent is another. Cowherd went on to say that Magic’s defense was so bad the Lakers had to trade Norm Nixon to the Clippers for Michael Cooper…Yes, he said that.

That should have led to a suspension, and I think Cowherd is the most talented sports talk guy out there, and he’s one of the few who stay focused on sports…but yamma hamma—Nixon for Cooper?—that was fright night.
