(Rosemead) – Calvary Baptist scored two runs in the first inning and racked up six in the sixth in an 11-1 rout of Rosemead Friday on the Panthers home field.
Rosemead’s only run came in the fourth inning to cut the lead to 2-1 but Calvary Baptist responded with three in the fifth and six in the sixth to put it away.
The Cougars got two in the first inning courtesy of two Rosemead errors. Steven Barela and Matt Bias both reached on miscues and Gavin Manzo brought them both in with a single to left field.
Rosemead starter Sebastian Genie sailed through the next three innings as the Panthers stayed in the hunt. Rosemead cut the lead in half in the fourth as Genie singled, moved around the bases on hits by Carlos Villalobos and Lucas Mojica and scored on ground ball by Gabriel Fraustro.

Calvary Baptist went up 5-1 in the fifth on a two-run double by Manzo that scored Barela and Bias who had reached on a single and a walk. Devin DeBuono also drove in a run with an infield single.
The Cougars then batted around in the sixth. Chris Bacarella highlighted the inning with a two-run double and Zaedik Mcphail, Joshua Keller and Angelo Fowler also had RBI singles in the inning. Ian Segura started the inning with a walk and Barela and Manzo also had base knocks in the inning. By the time the dust had settled Calvary Baptist was up by 10.
The Cougars then closed it out in the bottom of the sixth.
Genie went four innings for Rosemead before being relieved by Adrian Bojorquez in the sixth. Rigo Sanchez came on to finish the sixth.
RJ Franco started and went four innings for Calvary Baptist and allowed just one run and three hits. Keller threw the last two innings.
The Cougars improved to a perfect 9-0 on the season with the victory while Rosemead dropped to 5-5.
