- The New York Knicks beat the Atlanta Hawks 140-89 Thursday night to win their Eastern Conference playoff series in six games. The Knicks set an NBA playoff record with a 47-point halftime lead over Atlanta in the win.
- The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Boston Celtics 106 -93 Thursday night to even their Eastern Conference playoff series at 3-3.
- The Lakers will face the Rockets Friday night in Game 6 of their Western Conference playoff series. The Lakers lead the series 3-2. Houston’s Kevin Durant will miss his fourth consecutive game with an ankle injury.
- Defensive lineman Calais Campbell is returning for his 19th NFL season as he signed a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens. This is Campbell’s second stint with the Ravens as he played for them from 2020 – 2022.
- The Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Denver Nuggets 110-98 Thursday night to wrap up their Western Conference playoff series in six games.
- The Houston Texans signed linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair to a three-year, $54 million extension.
- Baseball: Covina will play Charter Oak Friday for the Valle Vista League title. The two teams are tied for first at 6-1. Covina beat Charter Oak 9-4 Wednesday.
- Baseball: Arroyo and South El Monte are tied for first place in the Mission Valley League at 7-3 with two league games remaining.
- Baseball: La Canada is 9-1 and in first place in the Rio Hondo League with two league games left- both against Monrovia. The Wildcats are in second place at 7-2.
- The New York Mets have worst record in baseball heading into May at 10-21.
