1. The Dodgers acquired ace pitcher Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers for three prospects: outfielder Zyhir Hope and right-handers River Ryan and Brady Smith. Skubal has won back-to back AL Cy Young awards.

2. The Dodgers lost to Boston 8-4 Sunday and were swept by the Red Sox in the three-game series.

3. The Chicago Cubs acquired right-hander Kevin Gausman from the Toronto Blue Jays for two minor leaguers.

4. The New York Yankees acquired infielder Luis Garcia Jr. from the Washington Nationals for four right-handed pitchers it was announced Sunday. Garcia, 26, leads the National League in slugging percentage (.560) and is batting .283 with a career-high 23 home runs and an OPS of .873.

5. Pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney agreed to a contract to return to the Houston Texans, the team that selected him with the number one overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft. Clowney had 8.5 sacks for the Dallas Cowboys last year.

6. New Orleans Saints wide receiver Ja’Lynn Polk, 24, has retired from the NFL. Polk never played for the Saints after being acquired from the New England Patriots after being placed on injured reserve last September. Polk will finish his NFL career with just 12 catches for 87 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games.

7. Guard Andrus Peat announced his retirement after 11 NFL seasons. Peat, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, played nine seasons with the New Orleans Saints and played six games with the Pittsburgh Steelers last year.

8. The Tampa Bay Rays acquired right-hander Freddy Peralta from the New York Mets for three minor leaguers Sunday. Tampa Bay is in first place in the AL East.

9. Rams defensive end Myles Garrett has missed the last three days of practice due “a little soreness in his lower half”.

10. On this day in 1936 Jesse Owens won the 100M in 10.3 seconds to win the first of his four gold medals, in front of Adolf Hitler, at the Olympic Games in Berlin.
