Photo by Anne Cypress.With the football season winding down it’s that time again to begin the round ball season with four weeks of tournaments around the Southland. No shock at who is at the top spot after getting to the CIF State Championship game last year at Arco Arena. Bishop Amat will begin the season with the #1 ranking with Diamond Ranch and Muir closely behind.

With the addition of the Suburban League, some new teams grace the Top 25.

1. Bishop Amat (0-0) – Went on a roll at the end of the season to get to the State Championship game.

2. Muir (0-0) – Program is run well and only question is whether the young squad can continue with winning the Pacific.

3. Diamond Ranch (0-0) – Epic meltdown in the semi-finals against Woodbridge should light fire under returning starters.

4. Bonita (0-0) – Not only do Bearcats have to contend with Diamond Ranch, perennial power Walnut now in the mix for league title.

5. Poly (0-0) – Michelle Miller is a legit Division I star on a small school.

6. Crescenta Valley (0-0) – With Cassie Pappas gone, where will the Falcons get the points from?

7.  Alhambra (0-0) – Surprising Moors knocked off Keppel from the Almont perch.

8. Mayfair (0-0) – Can Monsoons continue winning streak in Suburban league?

9. Whittier (0-0) – Cardinals are tough in the Del Rio.

10. Walnut (0-0) – Could Mustangs league title run end with move to the Hacienda?

11. Rosemead (0-0) – Solid season ended with tough loss against Monrovia.

12. Sierra Vista (0-0) – Under the radar Dons will make some noise in Montview.

13. Burroughs (0-0) – Ten players return from last year’s third place team.

14. Cerritos (0-0) – Only two losses in Suburban league were to Mayfair.

15. Schurr (0-0) – Spartans might be the team to contend for Almont title.

16. Santa Fe (0-0) – Heartbreaking loss in opening round playoffs.

17. La Canada (0-0) – Only one starter returns for Coach Tamar Hill.

18. South Hills (0-0) – In tough in new Sierra League.

19. Covina (0-0) – Loss of Jackie Ford might be too large to replace.

20. Northview (0-0) – Biggest rival to Colts Valle Vista league reign.

21. West Covina (0-0) – Bulldogs went from being the third best team in San Antonio to probably fourth or fifth best team in Hacienda.

22. Glenn (0-0) – Ultra competitive Eagles will hope to take its own Tournament in a couple of weeks.

23. La Salle (0-0) – Return starters Jackie Pacheco and Itos Aikhinbare to Camino Real favorites.

24. Duarte (0-0) – Falcons are biggest threat to Sierra Vista in Montview.

25. Valley Christian (0-0) – Crusaders move into new league after toiling in Alpha League.
