  1. The Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 5-0 Tuesday night at Coors Field to improve to 44-34 on the year. 
  2. Northview kicker Joseph Gutierrez has transferred to Mater Dei according to multiple sources. 
  3. Former NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett, 35, died Tuesday of an apparent drowning at a Florida beach. 
  4. Nascar driver Jimmie Johnson’s wife’s parents and a nephew died in an apparent murder suicide Monday. 
  5. Alhambra closes the schedule with three straight road games at Schurr, at Montebello and at San Gabriel. 
  6. Joe Hartnett, who just took over as the head football coach at Gabrielino earlier this year, has stepped down to take the running backs coach job at Pasadena City College.  
  7. LSU beat Florida 18-4 Monday night to wrap up the College World Series championship in three games. 
  8. Baldwin Park is looking for one more team to make it 30 for its 7 on 7/ Linemen Tournament Saturday July 8. If interested contact Baldwin Park head coach Robert Maxie. 
  9. On this day in 2007 the Portland Trail Blazers selected Ohio State center Greg Oden with the first overall pick in the NBA draft. 
  10. Former Denver Broncos quarterback/Hall of Famer John Elway turns 63 today.

    Not sure exactly what happened here . Sure , the job at PCC is probably better : football culture , pay , hours , etc . Still, Hartnett had his first head coaching job ( not easy to get) and was coming a from nondescript D13 program at Rowland . Was there any bond with kids formed in the two months since his hire ? What does Gabrielino do now ?

    Said it once, i’ll say it again. Sad what’s become of Gabrielino football. The new Mark Keppel of the SGV. Lesson to other schools. This is what happens when there is no admin support for the program and no relationship with alumni.
