Quake in the Cage 2; Hernandez and Uhl get Tapped

By: Ben Garcia

The Ring of Fire MMA and Old School Promotions put on a great night of fights Sunday in Covina at Showdown MMA. Only two of the seven bouts went to a decision. Also big props to Max Garibay (ROF) and Brock Combs. Both of their opponents didn’t show for the fight.

Castellenos KO’s Delgado;

The night started off with a stand up war from Alex Castellenos and Andrew Delgado. Both fighters traded blows in the first round and it ended even. Coming into the second round Castellenos connected on a right that dropped Delgado. He capitalized and finished the fight with a KO.

Uhl loses tough one;

Sean “The Wolverine” Guzman (Sub Fac) faced former Temple City Ram Paul “Lil Hulk” Uhl (ROF). Fighters came out looking to exchange, but the fight was quickly taken to the mat. Uhl and Guzman switch positions and submissions attempts. The bout was even until late in the third round when Guzman locked in a guillotine choke and Uhl was forced to tap.

Vegas wins in flash;

Ruben Vegas (ROF) looked like a man on a mission against Giovanni Torres (MMA Elite). He did what he had to do in only 30-seconds with a rear naked choke win over Torres.

Hernandez and Petruncio put on slugfest in Main Event;

Jeremy Petruncio (29 Palms) came out fast and furious against former Mountain View Viking and current Mid Valley Staffer “Big” George Hernandez (Team Florez). Petruncio rushed Hernandez from the opening bell. Hernandez was able to take the flurry and land counter punches.

Petruncio was landing hard leg kicks, but Hernandez stood and exchanged landing hard right hands and leg kicks of his own. In the middle of the third round with Petruncio on the cage Hernandez slipped and Petruncio capitalized and landed some ground and pound.

Hernandez tried to get out of trouble by rolling out but Petruncio took his back, and locked in a rear naked choke and Hernandez tapped.

You could be seeing a rematch of the two heavyweights and other exciting fights at Quake in the Cage 3 Dec 11th.
