Burroughs Blasts Nitros, Win 4th Straight

(Burbank)- Burroughs overcame a sluggish first half to hammer Glendale 35-6 on Thursday night to win its fourth straight in Pacific League play.

The Indians got on the board in the first quarter when Zander Anding broke off a 48-yard run and Cristobal Escobar added the extra point to make it 7-0

Early in the second quarter Matt Volland caught a 47-yard halfback option from Tadeo Zuniga and scored. After Escobar’s boot it was 14-0 in favor of Burroughs.

The Nitros added a pair of field goals (29, 41) by Nick Villapando to close the gap before halftime.

In the second half the Indians broke the game wide open when quarterback Lucas Yanez scored on runs of 44 and 32-yards, while Zuniga punched his way to paydirt on a 5-yard run.

Glendale now 0-4 in the Pacific, 0-7 overall, plays Muir next. The victory was Burroughs, 4-0, 4-3 overall, fourth straight after starting the season with three consecutive losses. Next week they travel to Moyse Field to face Crescenta Valley.
