(Alhambra) – Alhambra wide receiver Mitchell Crockom was offered a scholarship to New Mexico State this morning. Crockom, who had nearly 800 yards receiving last year as a junior, got the call today from New Mexico State Head Coach Dewayne Walker.

“It was officially his first offer. Hopefully there will be many more but this was his first,” said Alhambra Coach Gil Ruedaflores. “We talked to Coach Walker this morning and he made a verbal offer.”

Crockom has had several schools out to look at him and will be considering them all in the next few months. Pac 10 schools Oregon and Arizona State are just a couple of the colleges who have expressed interest.

“We’ve had at least 13 or 14 schools already out here to see him,” Ruedaflores said last week during spring drills.

Crockom, listed at 6’2” 170 last year, has bulked up in the off season in preparation for his senior season. He had 36 receptions and six touchdowns in 2008 with his longest reception being 84 yards. He averaged over 21 yards per reception.

On Thursday Ruedaflores said Crockom received another offer from University of Nevada Las Vegas. More are presumably on the way.
