(Alhambra) San Gabriel quarterback Arthur Brown scored two on the ground and two through the air to lead the Matadors to a 28-13 win over Alhambra Friday night at Moors Field.

The game started off as a defensive game for most the first have with neither team giving up much yardage.

With just under three minutes in the first half Matthew Tafoya had a spectacular 38-yard catch, to set up a Brown 6-yard touchdown run. After a Moors three and out Brown found a wide open Alex Villalobos the two scores were only 40-seconds apart, and made the score 14-0.

The first play of the second half for Alhambra quarterback Josh Mendoza was picked by Andres Fernandez but Fernandez fumbled the ball and gave the ball right back. Mendoza drove the ball down field and hit Oscar Gaytan to make it a one score lead 14-7.

After a couple three and outs for both teams San Gabriel found the end zone again when Brown found Fernandez to make it 21-7 Matadors.

Moors came right back and drove the ball down the field and Mendoza capped it off with a 1-yard touchdown run to make it 21-13 after Fernandez blocked the extra point.

San Gabriel got on the board again midway through the fourth quarter when Brown took it in again from 6 yards out to make it 28-13.

Fernandez led the team on both sides of the ball with 2-interceptions, a blocked extra point, and his touchdown catch. Tafoya had pressure on the quarterback all night that led to 3-sacks for the Matadors.

Jacob Carabello had a fumble recovery and Ezra Broadus picked a Brown pass to lead the Alhambra defense.
