Mid Valley Girls Basketball Top 25: December 12

Spotlight is now on the Bearcats after Tourney win.

Nearing the middle of the month and teams are heading in opposite directions with tough schedules or impressive wins. For the first time since the Top 25 has been around (Two-plus years) La Canada is nowhere to be found. Bonita’s impressive defensive win against Roosevelt catapulted the Bearcats to the top spot.

1. Bonita (4-0) – Bearcats win Covina Christmas Classic with tough defense.

2. Bishop Amat (5-1) – One bad quarter in semi-finals equaled third place game in Covina Christmas Classic.

3. Diamond Ranch (1-2) – Panthers face tough road prior to league schedule.

4. Poly (4-0) – Panthers in midseason form during own tournament.

5. Crescenta Valley (3-1) – Sarah Yoon leads the Falcons in points with 16.8 a game.

6. Muir (3-2) – Mustangs head down the 210/110 to play Maranatha on Wednesday.

7. Walnut (4-1) – Nnenna Abaeza is averaging 12 points and 12 rebounds.

8. Burroughs (5-0) – Indians might have enough to challenge Muir and Crescenta Valley.

9. La Salle (6-1) – Good start for Lancers with good runs in Wilson and Poly tournament.

10. Sierra Vista (5-2) – After watching Lady Dons this week Montview should be warned.

11. Whittier Christian (5-1) – Surprising start for Hearlds might make football loss sting less.

12. Duarte (5-1) – Falcons are making noise in preseason schedule.

13. Keppel (5-1) – Softer schedule is a benefit to Aztecs.

14. Whittier (5-3) – With 16.6 points Jeana Magana has become leader for the Cardinals.

15. Pasadena (3-1) – Bulldogs enter the Top 25 with strong start.

16. Maranatha (4-2) – Good barometer on where Minutemen are when Muir pays a visit.

17. Baldwin Park (5-1) – Impressive three-game winning streak beating teams an average of nine points a game.

18. Santa Fe (4-4) – Tatianna Scott is dishing it the ball at 5 assists per game.

19. Burbank (3-1) – The other team in the Media City are having a good start to the season.

20. L.A. Baptist (6-3) – Monet McNally has 15 points per game.

21. Arcadia (2-0) – Rematch slated with Glendora in opener of Arroyo Lady Knights Tournament.

22. Mayfair (2-7) – Don’t be down on Monsoons with murderous early season schedule.

23. Azusa (4-4) – Aztecs quietly sneak into the Top 25.

24. Covina (4-3) – Colts defense keeps them in games.

25. Valley Christian (2-3) – Carrie Korver’s 3-point shooting keeps the Crusaders in games.
