The Christmas Tournaments are over and the New Year has brought in a new start to the season as most teams enter league play this week.

During the break, Damien remained undefeated to take the top spot and Montebello jumped into the third slot after defeating La Canada. Along with that many teams improved or worsened their stock with tournament play.

1. Damien (13-0) Nogales Tournament champions; Defeated Don Lugo, 67-66, in tourney title game.

2. Glendora (12-2) Undefeated streak ends at 12, Tartans lose two at competitive Century Tournament.

3. Montebello (14-2) Defeated Maranatha (60-54) & previously undefeated La Canada (53-49) to win La Salle/Temple City Holiday Classic Tournament.

4. La Canada (12-1) Plays Marshall today in the La Salle/Temple City Classic.

5. Maranatha (12-2) Starts off league play Jan.11 at Whittier Christian.

6. Chino Hills  Playing great b-ball; AJ Hecox and Huskies win Covina Classic Tournament.

7. Bonita (12-3) Lost to Chino Hills (53-42) in Covina Classic Tournament Championship.

8. Bishop Amat (12-3) Trounced by Bonita in Covina Classic Semi-Final game.

9. Northview (12-3) Goes 3-1 in Covina Tourney, Beginning league Wednesday at home against Covina.

10. Baldwin Park (11-3) Swept through Ontario Christian Tournament, plays Pomona to open Valle Vista league Play.

11. Crescenta Valley (8-5) Opens up league @ Burroughs this Friday.

12. Rowland (10-4) Starts league play at home against Los Altos Jan 5.

13. Whittier Christian (10-4) Heralds have won 6 out of last 7 games.

14. Mountain View (10-3) Erick Martinez is averaging 15 points per game for the Vikings.

15. Covina (10-4) Only lost to Bishop Amat in Tournament as Host.

16. Whittier (10-7) Host Cardinals lost in the championship match of their first Annual Holiday Invitational to 13-1 Downey by one point (62-63).

17. Mark Keppel ( 9-5)  Went 2-2 in La Salle Tournament.

18. Ayala (9-5) Bulldogs faired even at 2-2 over winter break.

19. Bell Gardens (9-7) Michael De la Torre averaging 15 points and two steals per game.

20. Pasadena (5-6) Took lumps in Oaks Christian Tournament against Alemany (45-63), De La Salle ( 37-42), & Inglewood (47-54).

21. Arroyo (7-8) Plays South Hills before league play starts against El Monte (1/12/11).

22. South El Monte (7-8) Eagles have not played since 12/18/10, Waiting for Bosco Tech on 1/07/11.

23. Gabrielino (7-6) Lost last 3 out of 4, Ryam Lam averaging 14 points per game.

24. Nogales (7-8) Jesus Orellana (14.8ppg) & Ray Santos (13.3ppg) keeping Nobles close to the .500 mark.

25. Sierra Vista (6-8) Dropped 3 consecutive; Open up league play @ Duarte Wednesday.
