Peterson cuts deal with Robledo...Buys Trib subscription.

Good Evening!

Let’s see if I remember how to do this…How does it start again…?

Oh yeah, with complaints…Good now I know exactly where to begin…

Go Seahawks…

Three hours of self-pity, hatred of football, and anger with Charlie Whitehurst…Caused me to reflect that my football team, the Rams, finished 7-9 and ten points out of the playoffs. A little serenity, a little sanity, and way too much sports talk caused two things to occur by 6:AM this morning.

First, the Rams won seven games…They had only won six the previous three years combined…Hooray, hooray, hooray… After all there are worse things in life than being 7-9. I mean Georgia Frontiere could still be the owner and the franchise could be named the Bengals…

Life is good…

Second, the Seattle Seahawks are my new favorite team. So much anguish, spit, and breath has been wasted in complaint about a 7-9 team making the playoffs.

To the purists, to the fans of the Giants and Buccaneers, to the Munsons that root for the Raiders, who went 6-0 in the AFC West and finished 8-8…Too bad.

Where are we at right now in the NFL? 90? 91 years? This is the first time this has happened and now we need to change the rules…?

Its a fluke…

Ask New Orleans how they feel about playing a 7-9 team. They probably feel pretty good about it. A lot of teams would.

If Tampa Bay is upset they are out of the playoffs then they should look in the mirror and remember the games they threw away earlier in the season.

The Giants…I guarantee you if the Giants were awarded a playoff game for Saturday Ahmad Bradshaw would have fumbled it away by Friday…

Go Seahawks…tick everybody off…

I understand Colin Cowherd gets his paychecks signed by ESPN…but I think the NCAA and the BCS folks are providing bonus income after hearing him this morning…

Yes TCU and Boise State are smaller schools, yes they don’t get the recruits the big time schools get, yes they don’t play in front of 80,000 people every week…yes, they don’t play a SEC schedule…

“You give them a good quarterback, a great coach, and a neutral field,” Cowherd says. “Then they have a shot to win.”

Isn’t that what a bowl game is? One game on a neutral field? And I know Utah’s victory in the Sugar Bowl over Alabama a few years ago was completely neutral. No Crimson Tide fans were going to make that long, long trip to New Orleans.

He complained about the schedule…but I don’t see Auburn, after brokering deals with Cam Newton’s Dad, willing to schedule a home and home with Boise. Is Alabama going to go to TCU? When will Texas go to Fresno State?

They’re not. They’re not because there is not enough gate, they don’t want to be shown up, and they don’t have to. Meanwhile the NCAA-BCS will continue to contrive post-season Boise State-TCU match-ups to protect the big boys.

None of these small schools are asking for special treatment, but only for the chance to compete.

There is no credibility or integrity in NCAA football or in the bowl system…I think Terrelle Pryor and the Buckeye Five and driven the final nail into that coffin…So what is everyone trying to protect?

Everyone is trying to protect their slice of the pie.

Am I worried about the Lakers? I don’t know, are you worried about the penguin population in Rhodesia.

Is there such a thing as tenure in the NFL? How else do Jack Del Rio and Gary Kubiak keep their jobs?

***

What I like about the Rooney Rule in the NFL is that it allows minorities the opportunity for a free trip and perhaps a free meal or two before they are lied to about being in consideration for a head coaching job.

Its worked for me…Soon as Dallas owner Jerry Jones discovered I was a half-breed Armenian with a hispanic wife and a love for football he booked me for an interview this Thursday…

I got a few ideas for the Cowboys…

If you think I’m joking, think again…Eric Mangini has been hired twice as an HC.

Stay thirsty my friends…
