Joe Torosian

Good Morning!

Okay raise your hand if you want either the Wilson or Los Altos job…Come on…Anyone? Okay, how about South Pasadena?

I knew I’d get somebody.

***

Its moments like these that Chick Hearn used to say: “Time out Los Angeles!…And they’re dancing in the streets of Cleveland! (…or Seattle, Phoenix)…

***

It was a great third quarter between Temple City and Bonita.

***

We “Franchise Tagged” Big George Hernandez…I don’t think he was happy about it.

***

The Minutemen won their tenth in a row and advance…

***

Dion Nelson’s 17 paces Muir to a 66-38 victory over Oxford…That’s a heck of a road game for the first round…

***

Last Add Baseball: Does it really matter whether or not Albert Pujols plays in St. Louis and gets his 300 million over ten years? I don’t think people are turned off by this debate, but I do think they are bored with it.

It’s not like the days of Reggie Jackson and the other Oakland A’s flooding the free agent market for the first time…Or even when the Minnesota Twins signed Kirby Puckett to a three year 9-million dollar deal…

***

Think I went to school with a Pujols or was that a Pulido? Yeah, I think it was a Pulido.

***

Thanks for making “No Huddle” with Saile and Omelette a first night success…Got nice feed back on Stan & Ollie… Note: They can be as good as they want to be…I have a feeling in a few years I’ll be fetching their juice boxes…

***

San Marino’s pursuit and apparent landing of Mike Hobbie is interesting on two fronts. His experience and his age…you don’t hear too often about head coaches taking gigs in their late 50’s.

Say what you will, the dude’s had success.

***

First Add Irate Titan Fan: No, we are not upset about the Trib breaking the Hobbie story first (by six hours according to the comment box)…What we had, we had for a week and were asked to hold onto it. So we held onto it. If they got something and were okay to go with it thats their score.

***

Last Add Star-Trib: I was surprised to see Miguel Melendez returning as an offensive lineman for Bell Gardens…They’ll need him, the Lancers are going to be hit hard by graduation.

***

Since we’re talking Almont…Expectations are rising for Alhambra junior-to-be quarterback Josh Mendoza.

Moor player to expect more of in 2011? Demetrius Russell.

***

Not a big fan of ESPN, but I do like “NFL LIVE”… One complaint…Its probably not best to ask former players like Mark Schlereth (who never needed a urinal while in the league) and Teddy Bruschi for insight in the current CBA debate…Call me crazy but I think they might be partial.

***

Former Burroughs standout and current Humboldt State DB Kohl Adams-Hurd, along with some friends is running “2nd Gear Football Camp” this summer… July 23-24 (11 to 4:PM) at John Muir Middle School in Burbank…

The camp is for 6th graders through 11th and is open to everyone looking to learn more about football in areas of: “SPEED, STRENGTH, ENDURANCE, AGILITY, QUICKNESS, AND ALL OUT SKILL IN THERE SPECIFIC POSITION..”

Contact Hurd at: 2ndgearcamp@gmail.com

***

Hesitant to bring this up…but its kind of a sport…Did anyone watch Survivor last night? Go Boston Rob!

***

Stay thirsty my friends…
