(San Dimas) – Fresh of its loss to South Hills on Tuesday night, Bonita bounced back with a 4-2 win over Walnut in the San Dimas Classic.

If there was any hangover from its 12-2 loss to the Huskies, the Bearcats should no signs by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Jazzlyn Costa in her only appearance because of an errant pitch by Kiarra Vance that hit her in the head scored on Courtney Gano’s triple. Gano scored on Corrina Loscano’s sacrifice to give Bonita a 2-0 lead after one inning.

The Mustangs battled back in its half of the second inning with Sage Aguilar doubling to start the inning. Mariah Gurule advanced Aguilar to third after a single to give Walnut first and third with one out. Ana Carter’s dribble up the middle scored Aguilar to cut the lead by one run.

Any upset that Walnut envisioned quickly evaporated in the fourth inning with one out for the Bearcats, Liza Caddell reached on a fielding error by the second baseman. Up stepped Ciara Loscano, who promptly blasted a 2-1 pitch into deep right-field for an inside the park home run to give Bonita a three run lead heading into the fifth.

Kelsey Carr made an attempt to keep the Mustangs in the game when she led the fifth inning off with a triple to right-field. With Elaine Brown at the plate, Loscano over threw the pitcher to allow Carr to score Walnut’s second run of the game.

Anissa Sanchez pitched a complete game to get the win for the Bearcats, scattering five hits and striking out seven Mustangs.

Bonita will face San Dimas at 7:15pm. Walnut will face Northview at 3:15pm; the game will be played at Northview HS.
