Joe Torosian

Good Morning!

Remember we are live tonight…If you want to watch us its free…(7PM)…If you want to watch us in person…The acceptable currency for admission is; Monrovia Pizza Company.

***

Have I been too hard on Big Tony lately?

***

Heard a rumor someone, or two, may be returning to the Temple City football program.

…And no it’s not Brandon Cox.

***

Andy Dalton would be a nice pick for the Indianapolis Colts…Current back up Curtis Painter has UFL written all over him…

***

Last Note Nike Football Camp at USC: Whittier Christian stud center Ryan Wallace was also in attendance on Sunday.

***

The NCAA Women’s final is tonight. Really?

***

Probably unfair Butler gets the Cinderella tag of the tournament because in almost any other year UCONN would have been considered the miracle team. The Huskies deserve more credit than they are getting…Jeremy Lamb, dog gone, that guy has got more cool than a Marvin Gaye tune.

***

Sitting on the couch as halftime approached I told my wife that the analysts were going to tear the first half of Butler-UCONN apart as the worst half of basketball ever.

Moments later Greg Anthony came on and said it was the worst half of basketball ever. Of course Anthony is forgetting that dogmeat version of basketball he and the rest of the New York Knicks played back in the 1990’s.

***

Best thing about the tournament finally being over? I don’t have to see anymore commercials about the Masters or hear Jim Nantz declare; “A tradition unlike any other…”

***

Last Add Quality of Play: I enjoyed the game. I enjoyed seeing players move without the basketball…I enjoyed seeing excellent defense…and I especially enjoyed the energy level.

The bad shooting? It was apocalyptic…but I’ve been watching bad shooting in basketball for the last twenty years.

***

The Basketball Hall of Fame is a disaster…For credibility purposes the NBA really needs to establish its own Hall of Fame.

***

Even though, eventually, everyone gets in (Don Ford, Puntus Wilson, and Marv Safford are expected to be finalists for 2012), I was happy to see Artis Gilmore get selected.

Last Add Gilmore: His numbers were great, he’d be as rich as Bill Gates if he played today, but the word about Gilmore when he played was he didn’t really love the game. The thinking was if he had loved the game, instead of growing into it, he could have been one of the best of all time.

***

I’ve put it out there that I like Covina in the Valle Vista, and that I believe they could up-end Monrovia, but Baldwin Park intrigues me. The Braves got bubbas at every level, big dudes, who will allow HC James Heggins to grind the ball.

Keep an eye on the Anthony Moran. The senior-to-be, listed at 5-11, 230 last fall, should be primed for a big year.

Last Add BP: Remember they did knock Billy Livingston out of the Covina game last year…and beat the defending champion San Dimas Saints on the road.

***

Note to James Heggins: Quarterback?

***

Did you know Crescenta Valley finished 2010 with a five game losing streak…or right about the time Marro Lee went out with an injury. Lee is back, the Falcons should be better, and the Pacific seems to be wide open.

Stay thirsty my friends…
