Bueno Chooses Cal Lutheran UPDATED

Nick Bueno

UPDATE: After sharing with Mid Valley Sports his intentions for Cal Lutheran, Bueno was contacted by both Colorado State and Northern Arizona by email. This has caused him to consider again his options. More to come.

(Monrovia)- Nick Bueno, perhaps the most celebrated quarterback in Monrovia history and the only one to lead it to a CIF title, decided on Monday to attend Cal Lutheran next fall.

“I played in a 7 on 7 tournament Saturday and realized I didn’t  want to stop playing football,” said Bueno. “I will be playing cornerback, slot receiver, and return specialist.”

Bueno, who led the Wildcats to three semifinal games, two finals appearances, and the school’s first title ever last December against Whittier Christian, had been leaning towards Cal State Northridge.

“Cal Lutheran is the only school where they will let me play both football and baseball.”

On the baseball field Bueno, currently hitting .456 with a .508 OBP and 16 stolen bases for M-Town, could see time at shortstop and centerfield for Cal Lutheran.

Former South Hills standouts Miles Bevel, Ty Olson, and Sean Veal are currently on the Kingsmen football roster along with former Burroughs lineman Francisco Coronado. Cal Lutheran went 8-2 in 2010 and won the SCIAC.
