Joe Torosian

Good Afternoon!

It must be me, but really does the release of the NFL schedule mean anything?

Should I be excited about the Colts and Peyton Manning facing Tom Brady and the New England Patriots?

Those two teams and quarterbacks haven’t squared off since what? 1994?

It’s fascinating do you know the Rams will play the Seahawks, 49ers, and Cardinals two times each? Wow, I’m amazed. I never believed that was possible.

Tell me USC is going to Alabama and I’m interested. Tell me Texas and Florida are playing a home and home and I am down. The Cowboys playing the Redskins twice, I’ve seen that every year of my life.

Because it’s not set in stone, because it is still largely regional, college football has the NFL beat on this one.

Last Add What Would I Really Like to See: Covina and Maranatha this fall in a regular season match up…

***

Lost in the discussion of Brandon Rohrer going from La Puente to Glendora, is that the Warriors have a pretty good young quarterback in Ivan Vasquez, who fired 10 touchdowns against only five interceptions as a sophomore in 2010.

Meaning, if this goes down, the cupboard will not be at LP.

***

Really Last Add What I Would Like to See: I would have picked Arroyo-Covina, but I have no doubt after the Knights win the MVL that they’ll be seeing the Colts in the first round…or the Chicago Bears.

***

Nick Bueno is weighing a lot of options right now…and you know what my advice is? After considerable prayer, I would encourage him to smile and to appreciate all the hard work he has put in to get to this point. Good for him.

***

Is it fair to say Dwight Howard is starting to look a lot like Hakeem Olajuwon? Have you seen his improved footwork? When Howard came into the NBA he had all the foot skills of Peterson on the dance floor.

***

Science says otherwise but doesn’t something seem fishy about Aroldis Chapman’s fastball clocking in at 106. mph?

Then again, maybe I’ve been exposed to too much Broxton.

***

Last Add Peterson on the Dance Floor: Peterson on the dance floor? Welcome to fright night…for real.

***

Kentucky is losing Brandon Knight early to the draft…MVS is losing Sunshine Saile early as well…And it appears the Los Angeles Kings left the Staples Center sometime during the second period last night.

***

Last Note Hockey: The Vancouver Cannucks uni looks a lot like the old Hartford Whalers outfit…Yeah, I said Hartford; I do know some puck!

***

Are you kidding me? Because the NFL has locked out the players, the players are missing the structure of the off-season camps and getting into legal trouble? If you’re a player do you really want someone making that argument on your behalf? Goodness, gracious, grow up…

***

Last Add NFL: This is why I side with the owners…Not only do they assume all the risk, but it seems they also have to assume the role of mommy and daddy…

***

Stay thirsty my friends…
