CIF-SS Quarterfinals Schedule and Preview

DIVISION 2

La Mirada at Beckman – Amber Hickman provided the power and Brenda Bresnahan shut down the high powered Bearcats to reach the quarterfinals. Rochelle Sablay continues to impress at the plate for the Matadores.

Shanelle Harrell and Lauren Bennett have been swinging a hot bat for Patriots. Harrell pitched a solid game against Lakewood in her win to reach the quarters. Emma Willenborg went 2-for3 in a winning cause for Beckman.

DIVISION 3

Oaks Christian at St. Lucy’sDani O’Toole pitched her second consecutive shutout in the playoffs to up end Highland to reach the “round of eight” for a shot at a semi-final bid.

A four-homer game for the Lions helped lead the way to a second round win over Palos Verdes. Hannah Roberg and Kiana Quolas went 7-for-8 for Oaks Christian in the victory.

Chino Hills at La Serna – The Lancers continue its incredible season with an eight-run fifth inning to defeat St. Joseph’s. Jackie Valdez continues her incredible postseason with a double to open up the fifth inning outburst. Nikki Oviedo pitched another solid game and helped herself out with the bat.

The Huskies scraped by against North to advance on Tuesday. Chino Hills Garie Blando and Nikki Girard are the team leaders in hitting. Nikki Innamorato continues to be tough in the circle with her second straight shutout.

Warren at South HillsVanessa Molina and Lexi Robles helped get the Huskies past Lakeside to reach the quarterfinals. Sydney La Follette continued her mastery of opposing hitters by shutting down the Lancers.

The Bears were one game away last season from being crowned champs. Tina Iosefa leads the team with seven homers and Franny Vaaulu has six homers. Vaaulu is Warren’s top pitcher with 16 wins.

Bishop Amat at Torrance – The Lancers averted disaster on Tuesday by holding off Oak Park to advance. Alma Cortez and Amanda Sanchez each contributed toward the seven runs Bishop Amat plated.

The Tartars advanced with a 3-2 over Chaminade on Tuesday.

DIVISION 5

Katella at La Canada – Knights were able to get to Shawnee Medina of Keppel for three runs and quieted the Aztec bats. Melissa Biddle leads the team in hitting. As a team Katella has only struck out 38 times. Heather Salibury won her 12th time this year.

Anna Edwards is beginning to swing a hot bat with two homers against Hemet. Lauren Cox is 3-for-6 with two doubles in the playoffs. Lauren O’Leary continues to be dominant on the mound with another shutout.

Marlborough at South El Monte Jasmine Vargas and Salina Gonzalez helped lead the Eagles to another improbable win over Duarte. Demi Nguyen pitched well enough to help South El Monte advance to the next round.

Alix Cook is the most dangerous Mustang hitter in the lineup and Kerry Cook has a sub 2.00 ERA to help Marlborough get to the quarterfinals.

Arroyo at Savanna – Jaclyn Wagner showed her moxie with shaking off an early homer to help lead the Lady Knights to the quarterfinals. Timely homer by Paige Medina gave Arroyo the game winning runs to advance. This is the Lady Knights third straight trip to the quarters.

Kelly Barbeau went 4-for-5 with two triples to help Rebels defeat Azusa 10-0. Tiffany Fox also had a good day at the plate going 3-for-5 in the win.

DIVISION 6

Mayfield at Kern Valley – A walk-off triple by Josie Luck in the eighth inning scored Kaitlin Fitzpatrick for the game-winning run. Katie Clancy pitched a shutout for the win.

The Broncs outscored Frazier Park by 11 runs to advance to the quarterfinals. Katy Emery, Kayla Evans and Katie Clifton each accounted for two hits in the win.
