"A fog of memory is sustained soley by our summer waltz..."--- Dorsey

Good Afternoon!

First Add NBA Finals: So the Miami Heat have the best basketball player in the world…some think of all time…and he doesn’t score a point in the fourth quarter?

Sometimes the best of them do miss a shot in the paint, it happens…but that’s right…the  best basketball player can’t score in the paint unless its in transition…the best basketball player in the world prefers to shoot from the parking lot.

I’m at San Dimas for the four-way with Gladstone, Diamond Ranch, and Arroyo when Knights quarterback Steven Rivera comes sprinting towards me…He was smiling at me…Why me? I’m not that popular, he shakes my hand and says he’s not there for me…But for the SD trainer who is standing next to SD HC Coach Z and me…

Turns out Rivera dislocated his pinky finger twice while playing defense… “Yeah, yeah, I know its all my blanking fault,” said His Arroyo Baldness. “Shouldn’t have him playing safety.”

Suprisingly Arroyo OC Chris MacMillan was still in a good mood. Even better after Rivera made a throw perhaps only one other kid in the valley could have made from thirty yards out into the corner of the end zone.

Next Add NBA Finals: When Magic Johnson came to the NBA he couldn’t shoot from the outside…He developed that game, he also developed the “baby sky hook” to add another dimension to his post up game…He kept getting better….Jordan kept getting better…Bird kept getting better…Lebron James? He’s a very talented outside shooter…

"Turn and face the strange, changes..."

Gladstone’s defense broke huddle with a loud “Darkside”…a signature of new defensive coordinator Brian Zavala.

Last night was the alumni game at San Gabriel…I was promised a couple of series by SG HC Jude Oliva…When I tried to cash in, he said the two series were for the powder puff game at six.

Last Add NBA Finals: Congressman Anthony Weiner looked more comfortable answering questions in front of the press about his Twitter adventures than Peja Stojakovic looked on the floor for the Mavericks last night…Someone needs to let the dude know the fiesta is over and that its time to return to Belgrade…Watching him is more painful than a Chuck Norris movie.

Joe T.: Hey coach I took hit for praising you the other night.

Coach Z.: Don’t talk about us.

Joe T.: You have a lot of talent coming back and folks are overlooking you.

Coach Z.: That’s fine, don’t talk about us.

Coach Z. was happy to talk about his favorite subject; Valley Christian. “They’re gonna be pretty good.”

First Add Maranatha: The surprise of spring ball was Robby Flewelling. He is 6’4.5″ 200 lbs tight end who is really gonna benefit from the new offensive scheme that Michael Owens brings. Along with Darien McGee and Omar Younger it gives Andrew Elfers a lot to work with.

Last Add Gladstone: Gladiator quarterback Kevin Amezquita has a pretty good arm…From what I hear he will be the first to tell you…

Expect it to be Miller Time at Diamond Ranch this fall…Panthers HC Roddy Layton is really excited about Chris Miller, who is expected to get the bulk of the carries for D-Ranch

The La Puente High HC Brandon Rohrer made mention of his twin guards Adrian Pena and Henry Duong being left out of our linemen poll…We salute the Warriors and will not forget them going forward.

Last Add Maranatha: Maranatha Football Challenge camp is July 18-22 and it is only $95. Grades 4-8 are welcome and it is from 8:30-12. Email Eddie Arnett at e_arnett@mhs-hs.org for more information407
