Cameron Deen gets checked out

By Joe Torosian

Good Morning!

T-minus-3 until Manny Ramirez returns to Dodgers lineup

Last Add Hall of Fame game: I enjoy the high school all star games, but riddle me this Batman; why do players with full rides to college play in them?

Then again other than former South Hills quarterback Cameron Deen (Who was fine) getting smacked a little bit Friday night, I haven’t seen any injuries.

Thank goodness the U.S. team lost on Sunday in the Confederations Cup final otherwise experts would have started telling us again how soccer was ready to take over as the dominate sport here in the 2010’s…Like it was in the 1980’s, or was that the 1990’s?

Last Add Walnut: On the Bonita passing thread, I shared about the Mustangs excellent showing, then I went to last year’s roster. Barring transfer, grades, or athletic indifference Walnut brings backs quarterback Thomas Peralta, running backs Leonard Rhodes and Milan King, as well as DB Darian Lindsey.

I would say that bodes well…

“Football Rush Week” is coming…

Former Pasadena standout Austin Lacy looked good in the Bishop Amat secondary on Saturday. About his son’s transfer Mr. Lacy said; “Hey, it’s time to start college.”

Personally I always thought Fred Travalena, who died Sunday at 66, was much funnier than Michael Jackson…

Obligatory John Scanlan Question of the Day: As of Sunday night the Pittsburgh Pirates were only five games back in the N.L. Central…At what point does management take a look around and say this might be our chance to steal a division title? I think a “It Just Doesn’t Matter” speech might put them over the top.

After speaking to Steve Bogan on Friday night, I realized I’ve had three conversations with the South Hills head coach in the last three years and all three focused not on football but the church…

Baseball has thirty teams, 20 of which are either in first place or within five games of the top spot. A hot streak here, a losing streak there, and next thing you know Seattle’s in the World Series…

Still, I’m not too hip on the Dodgers dropping two out of three at home against the Mariners…

The answer is no to those wanting me to post a countdown at the top of this column regarding the opening of “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince”…while I enjoy the flicks, we’ll stick with the Manny countdown.

Last Add Bonita Tourney: Anyone care to tell me how Arroyo with a sophomore quarterback in Steven Rivera makes it to the semifinals without Mike Chavez?

Answer: They are good.

Stay thirsty my friends…
