Arroyo 29 Montebello 22

(El Motne)- Steven Rivera’s 30-yard strike to Brandon Jauregui with 50 seconds left gave Arroyo a 29-22 come from behind victory over Montebello Friday night at Bergstrom Stadium.

Rivera, who finished with over 200 yards passing and rushed for score, keyed the Knights comeback with his play at safety as well as quarterback.

The win improved the Knights to 3-0 on the season and dropped the Oilers to 2-1.

I guess i was one of those “cholo, thug, washouts, losers” that went to View. Me and my boys walked around campus with short hair baggy pants, with white shirts sxxt and most of the time looking for trouble well wearing out letterman. Half of us went to college, or just started working, now one has his own business and most have there own families and house.

MV doesn’t have anymore “cholos, thugs. or washouts” then anyone else you just hear about them cause their the craziest of the bunch!

I got the boot to Valley Lindo 3x and graduated from View went to college, help out at a non-profit boxing gym for at risk youth, train kids and women at a MuayThai gym, work and fight. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

You sound like someone that thinks your better then the ppl that went to MVHS,…***DELETED***…

I love following Rivera’s outstanding career at Arroyo, the truth is he wouldn’t be doing that good if he went to View. Arroyo has the talent to make him a superstar. But View is coming on strong in football and in no time they are gonna be fighting for playoffs spots then MVL titles!!!

I never heard Arroyo fans crying over Rashad Martin going to MV. They just kept playing. If the kid wanted to be a Viking, so be it. Rashad was your all everything and he lived a tee shot from Arroyo, matter of fact he was always hanging around our night practices. So please stop crying and start practicing. Your principal quit, one of your V.P. quit, your test scores are at the bottom of the EMUHSD… MV has had success in other sports and they are getting better in football. Do you school a favor and quit making excuses and just get better.

    To Marktelshark,
I’m sorry if I hit a nerve. All I wanted to know is if Rivera truly lives on Maxson and Deana. That does qualify as Mtn View territory, Look we both know Soccer is not Football. If that’s the case we’ll swap 10 MV Soccer players for 3 past football athletes that were supposed to go to MV. Don’t try to throw the academics card, cause you know Football is the live blood of a school and community, don’t even get me started with the revenue a school earns. Now the following statement is to all Arroyo borrowed athletes, ask yourself a question, If you’re not a starter on first string, how does it feel to ride the bench when you could of been a starter at another school? I know so many kids that ride the bench all year and don’t even start or play. When in fact if they went to the proper school they would start and have a fighting chance to compete!

    @ Shocker
Why are you complaining about Arroyo stealing all the FB talent? Does MV not steal the soccer talent? MV steals all the cholos, thugs, washouts, and losers. Other schools have them, just not as much as MV does.

Why would any student who wants to be on a winning football team go to Mountain view? think before you post your ignorant statement, MV is an under-performing schools academically, so by law a student may transfer to any other school in the district that is reaching its API requirement. If you don’t believe me just look up the API scores of the CA schools. Arroyo and Rosemead are ranked the highest while MV and SEM are battling it out to see who has more underachieving students. I lived in SEMHS’ district and should have went to South but made the right decision to attend Arroyo, a school that has excellent athletic programs, academics, performing arts, and it also has a great environment. If rivera wanted to play soccer then thats another story.

your theory of Rivera living on the wrong side of Ramona can be proven wrong. Kids just used their common sense and wanted to go to a winning tradition.

Hey, Steven Rivera….. Your friends from Madrid Middle School, have purchased A Cap and Gown for you, for the 2012 Mountain View Graduation, They have not forgotten about you, they also purchased a yearbook and a grad night ticket, and saved you a seat for the graduation ceremony, since you do live on the other side of Ramona, and are suppose to go to Mt. View.

Is it true that Rivera along with other current & past athletes should of been attending Mtn View High School? Shocker!! If that’s true, why does Arroyo permit this? I thought they ran a very ethical football program at Arroyo? Isn’t it enough that they’ve always been a MVL powerhouse team, why do they have to go that low and take other schools talent. Something stinks here!! And someone should say something about it!! Let’s see if anyone can answer my question?

I think Arroyo needs to schedule up next year. Drop La Canada and Ontario. Maybe pick up some Olympic teams like Village Chritian, Whittier Christian or Valley Christian. They can leave hart because they are good but I think they should schedule a teams that will give them a tough time because Arroyo is going to sleepwalk through league

My brother Joe, regarding your plea to Coach Singiser to not have Steven play defensively, and should take him out of the defensive scheme of things, as to prevent any injury that may happen to #10 (AMEN)…I have to say, that if Steven doesn’t play defense in this game vs. Montebello, the Knights lose this game. Rivera stripped the ball from a Montebello ball carrier on Arroyo’s own 1-2 yard line, with Montebello having all the momentum at that point, and driving for the go ahead score if I’m not mistaking. His play defensively was HUGE!!! P.S. Joe T for President in 2012!!!
