(Hacienda Heights) – Shane Vernala threw for 125 yards and a touchdown an also ran for a score as Los Altos beat rival Wilson 32-6 to gain control of “The Wheel”.
Los Altos took advantage of two Wilson turnovers and jumped out to a 20-0 halftime advantage.
Vernala capped an 80 yard drive with a seven yard run on the Conquerors first possession. Wilson fumbled the ball on its next possession and Los Altos responded with an eight play drive that Scott Tibbs finished with a one yard run.
Wilson put together a drive on the next series but after marching down to the Los Altos 13 yard line, the Wildcats turned it over again.
Vernala led Los Altos down the field and capped it himself with a 24 yard TD run for a 20-0 halftime lead.
Wilson got 115 yards rushing from J.R. Nelson but never recovered from the early deficit.
Los Altos improved to 3-0 with the win while Wilson fell to 0-3.
