(El Monte)- Arroyo’s Steven Rivera threw six touchdown passes enroute to a 42-3 win over Mountain View Friday night at Vikings Stadium.

The game started off slow for both teams with the Knights fumbling on the first play of the game, but the Vikings weren’t able to cash in. Both teams finished with zeros at the end of one quarter of play.

Rivera went to work in the second quarter when he hit Marco Duenes in stride for a 8-yard touchdown pass. Then just minutes later hit Hunter Duran for a 45-yard homerun strike to make it 14-0.

Mountain View got on the board just before the half when Chris Gonzalez hit a 35-yard field goal.

The Knights came out like a new team the second half. At 9:02 of the third Rivera found Duran again and he took it 60-yards to paydirt.

Rivera would throw two more scores in the third quarter finding Andre Kerkhoff and Peter Aholoka. Then he capped it off in the fourth quarter with a third touchdown pass to Duran and his sixth of the night.

Arroyos’ defense played great only giving up 87-yards of total offense. Aholoka had 64-yards on the ground well Jasmine Martinez got a touch for 10-yards.

Rivera stats for the night were 21 of 26 for 343-yards and 6-touchdown passes.

Jose “Nacho” Zamora had 55-yards of the Vikings offense and also had 7 tackles including two sacks. Vikings defense did force three fumbles.

Both teams will be at home next week, Mountain View host’s El Monte. Arroyo looks to take care of South El Monte.
