San Dimas & Payton Power by BP

By Matt Schuler

(Baldwin Park)-Jake Payton rushed for 196 yards and four scores, Dominic Jollevet added 99 yards and two touchdowns, and Dillon Corona returned a punt 65 yards to the house in San Dimas’ 48-14 romp over Valle Vista foe Baldwin Park Friday night.

Payton scored the first two touchdowns for the Saints and carried the ball 12 times, scoring on touchdown runs of 12, 14, 39, and 96.

With 5:06 remaining in the third, Payton sprung through the line untouched and raced down the sideline for a 96-yard touchdown, pushing the lead to 41-7.

On the next possession, Baldwin Park’s Anthony Moran capped off a 10-play drive with a six yard touchdown rumble and it was 41-14 with 11:11 to play in the contest.

The drive was fueled by some good running from Brave tailback Giovanni Resendez. Resendez finished his night with 100 yards rushing on 15 carries.

Baldwin Park quarterback Michael Moran finished with 200 yards through the air, but also threw three interceptions.

Corona was one of those culprits, as well as Devonte Brown.

The big play of the night for B.P came when Moran threw up a bomb to Samuel Guillen, who came down with the catch and ran it in for a 72-yard touchdown to make it 34-7 with 27 seconds left before halftime.

San Dimas (5-2, 2-1) next week faces Northview at Covina District Field. Baldwin Park (2-5, 0-3) travels to face Nogales.
