Wildcats Crash Titans’ Party

(San Marino)-  Blake Heyworth threw two touchdown passes as Monrovia ruined San Marino’s homecoming 43-7 Friday night.

The Titans (5-3, 2-1) controlled the Wildcats (5-3, 3-0) in the first, and were only down by six after one. At the start of the second San Marino had opportunities to score before half, but dropped passes and missed blocks kept them from scoring before intermission.

In the second frame Monrovia before the break ran a gadget play with De’Shawn Ramirez. The half-back option pass worked to perfection. Ramirez connected with Luke Williams for an 80-yard touchdown to put M-town up 13-0.

On the Titans’ following possession quarterback Matt Wofford was picked off by Mason Bryant who returned it for six. Their next two possessions ended in a three and out and they also fumbled before half.

This gave the Wildcats time to put the game away. Heyworth connected with Anthony Craft for a 27-yard pass to make it 26-0.

“We have a great group of kids and they bought into the fact that we need to work hard and get better,” said Monrovia HC Ryan Maddox. “It’s about us getting better and preparing for our goal.”

The Titans’ only score came late in the fourth when running back Kwame Do ran it in from 28 yards out. Do finished the game with 165 yards rushing.

The Cats look to stay perfect in league next week when they travel to Temple City. San Marino will try to get back to winning when it takes a trip to South Pasadena.
