The Spartans (3-6, 3-1) maintained their playoff hopes by holding off their cross town rivals, the Oilers (3-6, 1-3) with a serendipitous fumble recovery.
Late in the fourth, Spartan fullback Abel Trancoza recovered a fumble by teammate Eric Magos and advanced it 25 yards for a first time, allowing the Spartans to run out the clock for the win.
