Fanview Lite: February 9, 2012

Kick it!

In regards to our poll on the best returning quarterback in the Mid-Valley division, no argument from me about Maranatha’s Andrew Elfers and Monrovia’s Blake Heyworth scooping up all votes…but I say with confidence you may feel foolish down the road if you don’t jump on the Joey Harmon bandwagon now. The South Pasadena quarterback was a sophomore last year and figures to only get better.

Speaking of guys to keep an eye, Diamond Bar’s Tyler Brown finished 2011 with a flourish after being plugged in at running back late in the season. Brown will only be a junior next September.

You have to love La Puente’s non-league football schedule for 2012. With the Montview being an eight team league the Warriors are limited to just three electives. In 2011 they opened with El Monte and Northview, this fall they open with Covina and Arroyo.

Hacienda Heights Wilson remains the third week opponent.

It takes a while for the dust to settle on a season and preparation to begin on the next before you notice some really good football players. Classic case in point would be El Monte running backer/kicker Bryan Luevano. The junior had a solid year and is another reason to argue for the Lions next fall.

The perfect place for APU to build a football stadium would have been the old Fiesta Drive In lot they acquired over a decade ago…However with the Citrus stadium practically on campus, seating 10,000, its a perfect fit.

I’m advocating violence today…or at least chronic, life long, gastro intestinal distress on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors who have made it a $1,000 fine to throw a frisbee or football on a county beach.

Either this is a case of revenge of the nerds or they are communists. There is no middle ground here…

They say they want to protect citizens from injury and property from possible damage, but notice how they ignore the 78 year old grandmother with the implants who brazenly wears a thong in public. They say nothing about the bald guy named Gregor with the hair blanketed torso wearing speedos and flashing crack.

Bones mend, property can be fixed but the damage grandma and Gregor do are psychological and can never be mended. You will never get the image of them out of your mind.

Where is their fine? Where is their punishment?

Most likely the Board of Supervisors is made up of grandmas and Gregors and this is their moment of justice.

Last Add La Puente-Covina: LP has picked a good time to play the Colts.

Last Add Diamond Bar: If DB’s Brown is going to have success he needs a big season out of Joey Fontana (6-3, 307) who spent time at right guard and right tackle in 2011. Fontana is the lone returning “Bubba” along the Brahma offensive line.

The Dude abides…
