5.) On this date in 1965 Willie Mays hit career home run 512 in St. Louis off Ray Sadecki to lead the San Francisco Giants to a 9-2 victory over the Cardinals. The blast also pushed Mays ahead of former Giant Mel Ott (511) to make him the all time leader in the National League.
