Rams Take Care of Kaiser

Benji Sanderson had a run scoring single in the playoff victory

(Temple City) – Calvin Copping threw a complete game allowing just one unearned run on six hits while posting 12 strikeouts to carry host Temple City to a 5-1 first round CIF playoff win over Kaiser of Fontana Thursday.

The Rams vaulted ahead with a three run scramble in the fourth. Ben Arrue tied it with a knock to right that brought in Oklahoma bound Corey Copping before Gabriel Juarez added two more buzzing a single by third, scoring Benji Sanderson for an RBI while Arrue capitalized on the second of Kaiser’s outfield errors this inning.

TC added a two run insurance policy in the fifth stanza to round it out as Calvin Copping delivered an RBI single scoring Cameron LeGrand. He was in
turn singled in moments later by Sanderson.

Kaiser pitcher Chris Mathewson struck out 11 and also went the distance in the loss. He was tacked for five runs(2 earned) and nine hits.
