Keppel Search Ends; It’s Aaron Sepulveda

(Alhambra) – Keppel’s search for a head football coach has finally come to an end. Sources say Aaron Sepulveda, former El Monte Lion, has been named to succeed Bobby Madrid, who stepped down after the 2011 season.

Sepulveda, who was a teammate of El Monte HC Joel Sanchez and Arroyo DB Coach John Luque at El Monte, coached the Lions freshman team leading them to back to back Mission Valley League titles. Last year, Sepulveda was the coach of the freshman team at Mountain View.

Keppel named D.J. Williams as its head coach back in April but it didn’t work on an administrative level. The Aztecs finished 2-8 overall last year and 0-5 in the Almont.

I’ve known Aaron Sepulveda since elementary school.

He’s a classic overachiever! He’s the perfect man for that job. He is a man of value, so much so that my son is named Aaron, out of respect for him.

Aaron Sepulveda is an awesome coach and individual whose love for the game of high school football is unsurpassed by anyone I know, and I have been around a long time. He will bring energy and enlightenment to those he touches at Keppel. This has been truly missed a M.K.H.S the last 25 years. The last 4 decades has not been very kind to Keppel football. The population of students has changed and now you are finally getting the next generations from the immigrants that knew nothing about American High School Football. The students at Keppel are smart, clever, and resourceful. They may have a large Asian population and are a bit on the small side, but Aaron has a way to inspire young teens and turn them into players and get the most he can from them. He coached for 3 seasons at Mtn. View quite successfully. Persevering all the jokes and remarks about the Vikings. He helped take primarily, non-football players, developing them for the Vikings varsity double wing offense. The turn around at Mtn. View is a team effort, and Aaron was a big cog in the teams work there. The few coaches still remaining at Mtn. View, and to all he has touched will sorely miss him. His memory will always be known for the intricate part of the Viking Football history helping to turn around 2-18 team to 8 and 12 the last 2 years. If all goes well, I won’t be surprised if in a few years the Aztecs will be competing for a league crown. Good Luck Aaron.

Always faithfull it is. This coach will stick around for ask long ask Keppel wants him. He did at Mt View were no one wanted that job. Patience and time is what he is about. Glad to see someone really sees that this guy just loves to coach football. Good luck cause your going to really need it.

All I know is that Keppel has been in the dumps since as long as I can remember, its going to take nothing short of a miracle to turn that program around, I really dont know this Coach Sepulveda. I just hope he’s in it for the long haul, I’m tired of these coaches playing musical chairs. Keppel really needs hope and a prayer, only time will tell. Good Luck…..Hey Peterson when was the last time Keppel won the Almont? Or better yet a league victory?

Peterson what do think of the hire? I think it is good hire Bobby use to the run wing t I think mt.view did the same so its a good fit may he brings James Wilsons as oc if the schedule down I think the can 3 to 4 games and start building a respectable team
